The Poem of General Toptygin
|
This is Nikolay Nekrasov's poem about a strolling player and his bear, who hitch a lift from a passing general's sleigh. The sleigh driver and the player go into tavern, leaving the bear to wait for them. There they became drunk and forgot about the bear and horses. Frightening the horses the bear takes off, appearing to the terrified peasants as a fearsome general. |
